I don’t know about you, but I could really do with being on a beach right now – coconut in one hand, a good book in the other. Specifically, I wish I was on a beach in Thailand.

Off The Beaten Path Hidden Gems In Ko SamuiThailand is famed for its picture-perfect beaches, some of which have been voted best in the world. There are quiet beaches for relaxing, lively beaches for partying, beaches for watersports and everything in between. Whatever your ideal beach looks like, Thailand is sure to have it.

From the best-loved beaches to gorgeous hidden gems, here are 10 of the very best beaches in Thailand.

Phra Nang, Krabi

Phra Nang is a mere 10-minute walk from Railay East, or 20 minutes by longtail boat from the town of Ao Nang. Here, you’ll find pillow-soft sand and striking cliffs, providing the perfect setting for a fantastic day at the beach. At the bottom of the cliffs is a cave known as Princess Cave, which is dedicated to the goddess of fertility – you’ll find lots of phallic symbols and offerings here from those hoping to boost their fertility.

Railay Beach, Krabi

Railay Beach is one of the most famous beaches in Thailand. For good reason, too, as it’s surrounded by gorgeous limestone cliffs and the water is an incredible shade of blue. Railay feels like an island, boasting palm trees, gorgeous sand and colourful long-tail boats bobbing at its shoreline, but it is actually part of the peninsula.

Ton Sai, Krabi

This picture-perfect paradise will enchant you with its magnificent cliffs, beautiful sandy beaches and lush vegetation. Emanating a laid-back hippie vibe, Ton Sai offers chilled out beach bars and that relaxed beach life we all crave. It’s also a good spot for rock climbing if you want to try something a little more adventurous.

Long Beach, Koh Lanta

Koh Lanta was my favourite place in all of Thailand, and Long Beach really captured my heart. It’s very long (as the name would suggest) meaning that it doesn’t get overcrowded, and features a beautiful strip of golden sand with sea perfect for swimming. There are a few good restaurants on the beachfront too, making it a great place to have dinner while the sun sets over the ocean.

Bottle Beach, Koh Phangan

If you’re looking for a quiet spot, Bottle Beach is the place to be. It’s only accessible by boat or foot, so it’s not swamped by tourists. It’s also on the opposite end of the island to the infamous Full Moon Party, meaning it’s away from all the partygoers and allows for some peace and quiet.

Sunrise Beach, Koh Lipe

I’ve heard Koh Lipe being referred to time and time again as the “most beautiful island in Thailand.” It boasts a range of gorgeous beaches, featuring white sands and turquoise waters. Sunrise Beach is particularly beautiful, stretching along the east coast of Koh Lipe and showing views across to Koh Tarutao and Langkawi in Malaysia. As the name suggests, it’s supposed to be the best beach on the island to watch the sunrise.

White Sand Beach, Koh Chang

The name says it all. If you’re looking for an idyllic slice of paradise with soft, white sand, Koh Chang’s White Sand Beach is the place to be. This beach is backed by a bustling touristic town, with plenty of restaurants, shops and bars to choose from, making White Sand Beach an ideal location for those wanting to enjoy some leisure activities.

Kluai Beach, Koh Kood

Koh Kood is Thailand’s fourth biggest island but it’s sparsely populated and only just starting to see tourists. If you’re looking for your own deserted beach, Koh Kood is the place to find it. Kluai Beach offers a beautiful and tranquil retreat, perfect for those wanting to relax and enjoy the beauty of Thailand.

Bamboo Island, Koh Phi Phi

I hated Koh Phi Phi itself. But, just a short boat ride away from Koh Phi Phi, you’ll find Bamboo Island. A small ring of sand offering nothing but perfect beach, it’s simply breath-taking. The island is protected, so you’ll find no bars or hotels here (a huge contrast from Koh Phi Phi Don) and can instead relax to enjoy the natural beauty this place has to offer. The island is so small that you can walk around it in half an hour, which lets you feel as though you’re in your own little world.
