Most Beautiful Beaches in ThailandHow do these rankings work?
1. Ao Tanot Bay – Koh Tao
This peaceful island in the Gulf of Thailand has plenty of sheltered bays, but Tanot is the most beautiful. It’s uncrowded with warm, blue water and soft sand.
Snorkelling is excellent here, with a great variety of coral and some fairly large fish that can you’ll see as soon as you dip your toes into the water. Pure paradise.
2. Railay Beach – Krabi
This fairytale beach is only accessible by beach and is a 15-minute ride from Ao Nang. You’ll see people climbing on the karst limestone rocks, cliff jumping and snorkeling in the crystal clear waters.
The backdrop of lush jungle against the white sand and clear skies makes this one of the best beaches in Thailand.
3. White Sand Beach – Koh Chang
This scenic beach on the third largest island in Thailand has amazing views along the length of the beach and south, towards the small islands that lie off the west coast of Koh Chang. It comes alive in the evening, with fire dancers, music and buzzing beach bars.

4. Laem Thong Beach – Koh Phi Phi
Translating to ‘Golden Bay’ in Thai, this peaceful stretch of sand is perfect for lazing around all day in the sunshine. It’s accessible only by longtail boat or a private speedboat, so the beach is never too busy.
We suggest splashing out on a stay in one of the luxury resorts here to really make the most of the bay.
5. Sunset Beach – Koh Lipe
Sunset Beach is a quiet and secluded beach, surrounded by large boulders and palm trees. The seawater is emerald green-blue and crystal clear, with coral reefs to explore. You’ll often find yourself one of the only people on this little beach which is a real joy.
As the name suggests, it’s also a top spot on the island for watching the sunset.
6. Long Beach – Koh Lanta
No surprises here – Long Beach really is long. It’s easily one of the best, widest beaches in Thailand and is a must-visit. Soft, golden sand stretches on for over 5km so there’s plenty of space to find your own little patch of sand and settle in for the day.
Whether you try water activities or just lounge on the sand is up to you.
7. Sunrise Beach – Koh Pha Nhang
Sunrise Beach is famously known for the Full Moon Party, which takes place every month on the beach. The beach has golden sand, lively beach bars and plenty of umbrellas to shelter from the sun. It’s popular, so don’t expect an empty beach, but it’s so pretty you won’t mind sharing.
