Palau Beach Bungalows are located around 20 miles from Koror in a quiet village of Melekeok. It will take you around an hour to get to Koror because of speed limits and also there’s a lot of road work being done. The bungalows are not exactly on the beach but there is a small beach just across the road. The problem here is that it’s a low tide beach so you can pretty much forget swimming in the morning. Sunrise and sunset look nice though. Bungalows really need some maintenance work done and it looks like nothing in them has been changed, washed or cleaned since they opened. Bedsheets weren’t the cleanest and the kitchen simply had that vibe about it that makes you not want to ever use it. We only really used the fridge. There are 2 beds, 1 in the room and the other in the kitchen/living area. First one is supposed to be a double bed but it’s just enough for one person. Fitting 3 persons in this bungalow would be a real challenge. There’s a/c in the room and it works ok but it’s not good enough to cool down the whole bungalow. There is a fan in the living room/kitchen and if you want to sleep you’ll need to leave it on for the whole night. Internet hotspot (PNCC) is located at the nearby state office but it was on and off and I wouldn’t really count on having internet access while in Melekeok. Overall, this is not a bad place if you’re a budget traveler and just want to relax for a day or two but don’t count on too much swimming.
