To investigate the maternal lineages of the wild population of Asian Elephants (Elephas Maximus) in two wildlife parks in Thailand, (Kaeng Krachan National Park and Phu Khieo Wildlife Sanctuary) dung samples were collected and analyzed. A 350 bp part of the cytochrome b gene was amplified and a 261bp part was aligned and compared to the sequences found by Iertwatcharasarakul et al (2003), Vandebona et al ( 2002), Hartl et al (1996), Noro et al.(1998) and some other published sequences from the NCBI database. Three haplotypes (A, B, C) were found in Kaeng Krachan National Park which matched the haplotypes found by Iertwatcharasarakul et al (2003) in the domestic population of Thai elephants. Only haplotypes A and C were found in Phu Khieo Wildlife Sanctuary, but not all samples could be amplified successfully. Clusters A and B which have also been described in the other papers, were also seen in this paper.

Amphawa Floating Market Talat Nam Yam Yen Amphawa is an afternoon floating market by the canal near Wat Amphawan Chetiyaram (parking area is available). The area is a low basin with 356 canals. Samut Songkhram a coastal province at the mouth of the Mae Klong River, is 64 kms. Bangkok along Highway No. 35. It occupies an area of 416 square kilometers and is administratively divided into 3 districts: Amphoe Muang, Amphoe Amphawa, and Amphoe Bang Khonthi. The people cultivate various kinds of fruits such as lychee, pomelo, and coconuts. Originally, it is believed that this province was once a part of Ratchaburi province, and called Suan Nork at that time. Amphawa Floating Market and the Bangkok famous Dumnern Saduak Floating Market are located in this province, only 1 hour drive from Bangkok where you can experience the nature with local living lifestyle.
National Park At Nang Rong
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, during 12.00 a.m. This floating market, located on Damnern Saduak Canal in Ratchaburi Province, is an hour’s drive away from Bangkok. Busy between 8.00 a.m. The vast and well-tended premises comprise replicas – on a smaller scale – of most of Thailand’s historical buildings and monuments, from Chiang Rai in the North to Nakhon Si Tammarat in the South. Visitors can take part in one of the organized tours available or charter a private boat to do their sightseeing at their own pace. Between Bangkok and the seaside resort of Pattaya lies the Ancient City, called Muang Boran in Thai.
The 200-acre site can be visited at leisure on foot, while bicycles are also available for hire. The premises also include a zoo with several other species of animals. Renowned and exuberant Pattaya is less than a two-hour drive from Bangkok thanks to a new fast road which includes the world’s longest elevated expressway. The Ancient City has been built with considerable taste. A daily show starts at 9.00 a.m. These reptiles are here for the visitors’ entertainment and education, but are also bred for commercial purposes such as the manufacture of belts, shoes, handbags, and others. Located by the old road to Pattaya, the Crocodile Farm is believed to be one of the biggest attractions of its kind in the world with over 30,000 crocodiles from both Thailand and abroad. The replicas are one-third of their original size, but there are also original buildings such as the traditional village stilt-houses around the “floating market” which were once dismantled before being moved to their current location.
