Фото отеля Centara Grand Beach Resort 5 звезд (центра грандHi, I have just booked 9 nights at the chan am beach in march 2010, I can see by the forums it is a bit isolated, however are there any restaurants , bars or shops nearby, or will my wife and I be spending a fortune on trasport to and from Hua Hin.We are not looking for jumping night life just somewhere to ramble around on the evening.

Thanks

Paul

Precious little close by really and quite a long walk down to the main highway to find not much more so I’m afraid it will be your wife spending (well not much really) a fortune on taxi’s to ChaAm (5-10 minutes away) for a very quiet night life or Hua Hin (15-20 minutes away) for something a little more exciting.

The Marriott Resort Hua Hin might suit you, right on the beach, just about walkable into town center but you can walk easily to the mall and Grand Plaza night market, many walk into town and then tuk-tuk back

cli is giving you a bum steer. the walk to the main road is no more than 500m, 10 mins max. i’ve done it several times. then just get a baht bus to either Cha Am or Hua Hin.

With all due respects to bkk3’s posting, we don’t know the ages of TamworthRalph and many holiday makers don’t want to make a 10-15 minute walk in the heat (regardless of age) both ways to wait on a main highway for a baht bus in the middle of nowhere and in the dark it could be even harder for them, more so if they like to dress up nicely for their evenings in town and waiting on the roadside for a baht bus in the dark if one comes along and you see it to wave it down in the first place. I’d still keep with the taxi’s or a Tuk Tuk to Cha Am but no way a Tuk Tuk to Hua Hin.

Thanks for all the info , I have changed to a lesser hotel ( the chom view) because it looks a lot nearer the town. Are there any must dos whilst staying in Hua Hin

Chom View is very different indeed from Courtyard by Marriott.

They have rooms abut also the duplex apartments which are quite good value, tends to be fairly quiet during the week but very busy at weekends with families down from Bangkok. The main pool is very large and overlooks the sea, there are steps down onto the beach.

They have a shuttle service, again I guess walk to main road about 500m from where daylight there is the Songthaew service into town ( 10 Baht ).

You are very near Let’s Sea if you want stylish but pricey restaurant.

The area is just past the Hyatt Regency and before the Wora Bura.

There are lots of must sees but best to look through the previous posts. Sights in town and also the 2national parks, day trips to River Kwai and snorkjeling at Koh Talu island – look through past posts lots of ideas.

Best Beach Clubs in Samui

if you notice the Psater comes from Tamworth which is in rural NSW, which during the summer is much, much hotter than Cha Am. So i don’t think the temperature is an issue.

And what is the point in coming to Thailand, a hot climate, if you can’t walk for 10 mins. that means no looking at local markets – mhave to walk round, no goint to the beach – that’s too much walking.

Get real, will you.
