In addition to the Bungalow facilities, guests will have access to the exclusive Macatawa beach. The long, private, sandy beach is located on the western shore of Lake Michigan and stretches as far as you can see. The “Big Red” lighthouse that marks the Holland Harbor Channel stands proud at the North end of Macatawa Beach.
The Bungalow is so close to the water’s edge, that it could nearly be considered an “Over-the-Water Bungalow”.
I think some of the things that made this trip more enjoyable for us this year compared with previous years in South Haven was our location [in Macatawa]. For example, fishing was a more pleasurable activity due to the location and that the fish were biting! The beach, of course, is convenient as well. We also enjoyed the ping-pong table and basketball hoop.
Regarding the town of Holland, we thought there were more selections of restaurants to choose from and better food offerings. We enjoyed The Piper, New Holland Brewing Company, Boatwerks, and Salt & Pepper to name a few. We noticed that there are a couple of parks for the kids to play, a couple of movie theaters, an aquatic center, and other offerings of miniature golf, go carts, and laser tag. We had made note of the indoor activities in case of bad weather but didn’t pursue them. It is nice that Holland Water Sports is close by too.
Holland is definitely a very cultural city and that is appealing to us considering my family is a blend of two cultures. We often discuss moving back to Michigan someday and Holland is definitely one city we would consider. Thank you
