Avra Beach is a lovely hotel run by excellent staff in an beautiful location. We went as a family of four ( kids aged 4 and 9 ) and we all enjoyed the room, pool, beach and restaurants immensely. The food was great throughout and the new Greek Taverna and Italian restaurants that are open during the day are a great addition. The cocktails are nice but the beer and wine pretty average ( like most all inclusive resorts). The kids enjoyed the evening disco and there are sports and water activities such as water polo and aqua gym for the adults throughout the day. The sunset was often amazing with Turkey providing the backdrop. We upgraded our room to a more modern apartment and I would recommend this to all visitors. We stayed in room 502 which had a garden / pool view but was far enough away from the evening entertainment for the kids to sleep undisturbed. Rhodes old town is 10 minutes away and the shuttle bus from the hotel is the best option for price and convenience. There are some lovely cafes and restaurants hidden away with secret gardens within the centre. The castle of the knights is worth a visit but most of the harbour boat tours are only one hour and cover very little ground. The FBI bar is ten minutes walking from Avra and offers every sport you could want to watch and good priced food and drinks. Try the Giros when you go. The food manger Kostas and the head chef Kostas ( two Kostas’s! ) were always welcoming and my wife got two recipes to make at home. Kostas does a kids cooking class once a week. The entertainment team were friendly and always there for the kids. We loved our first trip to Rhodes and hope to go again. You will not be disappointed if you visit Avra beach.
